What is 2e?

Some gifted children have learning difficulties. Estimates of how many vary greatly, anywhere from 2 to 5 percent of the population to as high as 20 percent of all gifted children. One common term for these children is GT/LD – gifted and talented/learning disabled. Another – one that encompasses a broader range of learning problems – is twice-exceptional, or 2e. This term refers to the fact that some gifted children are exceptional both because of their strengths and because of their limitations. Coupled with their high intelligence, these children also have LD’s, which may be one or more learning disabilities, attention deficit, or other types of learning difficulties.

Here are some articles that help to explain what twice-exceptional is all about.
