Letter from the Publishers

March, 2008

It’s been a while since one of our issues featured the topic of attention and AD/HD (four years, in fact), so in this issue we revisit the topic. You’ll find an article by psychiatrist Carol Watkins outlining the challenges of gifted AD/HD kids and what you can do to help them. We revisit in some detail a study released last November indicating that many AD/HD children “grow out of” AD/HD, and explore what that means for parents of AD/HD kids. And in an attention-related article, Aimee Yermish offers tips on handling gifted boredom.

Recently the National Association for Gifted Children released a position statement that affects 2e children who take the WISC-IV test. Linda Silverman explains it.

And for those looking for a model of 2e education at the college level, Wendy Eisner explains what her college has done to make post-secondary learning easier for twice-exceptional students.

Enjoy our regular features and resource pointers (except for “Bob Seney on Books,” which we look forward to running again next issue). And don’t forget other resources offered by 2e Newsletter – the subscriber-only area of the website where you’ll find content of all past issues; the monthly e-mail briefing (If you aren’t receiving it and would like to, let us know.); and our compendium of pointers to articles published on gifted, LD, and 2e topics at http://deli.cio.us.com/2eNewsletter.

Thanks for subscribing!
